Hello everyone,

I have a client asking for a 54”-60” round dining room table with a simple 4 foot base coming out of a central column. The top will be ~1” thick Mahogany, and the base will be made from 2” thick Mahogany.

The question I have is two fold.

1. How far from the center should the top rails radiate from the center to properly support the top?
2. How wide do the legs need to come out from the central column to make sure the table doesn’t easily tolt over if leaned on?

I’ve included a simple sketch, looking for the answers to X and Y.

Thanks for your help!

I am surprised someone has not chimed in yet so I will give it a shot. Check out I think it will give you some ideas on what size you should be looking for. Let me know if this helped.
