Hello all,
I’m looking to replace my craftsman lathe with a newer, better mini lathe. I am looking for either a Delta 46-460, a Jet 1015VS, or a Jet 1221VS. I want variable speed, that’s a must. Hopefully someone relatively local to Chicagoland has one for sale. Thanks in advance!

Like both Delta 46-460, $670 and Jet 1221, $800 at amazon.com with free shipping. Can find bed extensions at amazon.com too! Not as keen on the Jet 1015. Have no idea where to buy around Chicago area.

Delta less expensive, I am partial to the Jet because beefier. Cannot go wrong with either wood lathe think will find resale value better than the smaller lathe.

Buy what can afford and good luck!

I’ve contacted him twice since he originally posted it over a week ago and cannot get a response from him. Guess he doesn’t want to sell it after all…I can’t figure it out!

Pault28—Be careful … the lathe in the photo is NOT a 46-460 (looks like a 46-250 to me). Ten years ago they were selling for about $300.

That alone is what I needed to hear to keep looking. Thanks for the heads up! That would have been a 75 mile wasted trip!

Gerry nice catch!

Think going to need tremendous amount of luck finding anyone of those three lathes in used lathe market for much less than new. Who knows strange things do happen.

Guy from NC over at IAP sold his two year old Delta 46-460 to buy a Jet 1221 when they first came out. He got almost what he paid for it!

If possible ask for original receipt if any warranty time remains. Delta & Jet warranties only applies to original owners. Need to have original store receipt to get anything done under warranty period. Delta doe provide a 180 day warranty on refurbished lathes, but good luck finding one.

Anyway good luck with your search!

I have seen a few Jet and Delta midis pop up on CL in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas, but they go fast.
