Hi folks, my name is John. I am retired and have lived in the South of France for the last 10 years, in the middle of the biggest vineyard in the World, the Languadoc. I took early retirement from IBM UK in 94 after screwing up my back and decided to make wooden toys. Not a good reason, but a very good result.

I am into woodturning mainly and do not like joinery very much. I like the wood to tell me not me tell it.. i.e. my joints are not the best? My lathe is a Record CL1 with a 3ø motor/controller, variable speed and it has transformed what was a reasonable lathe int a real goodie. well, I think so? You can see basically what I do by looking at my web site.

I hope to be able to add to the forum as well as ask questions. I’ll shut up for now..

Glad to have you here. I looked at your website you have some really nice and interesting things. The lazy susan did you turn the balls or purchase them? That beats the heck out of the commedrcial lazy susan hardware.

Thank you guys. The balls were all turned by me and it was easier than it looks. If you wish I will let you know my method. No fancy kits are needed, just a bit of care

If you look on my photobucket the pinch chuck I made is on page 5.

Welcome to Lumberjocks, John. I’ll bet you have good wine in vineyard country.

Hey. I’ll give you tip right off- forget about Photobucket. I have used it for years until I finally found out an easy way to plug in photos. At the top of my posting the are 4 boxes: B for bold , I for Italics, a Chain Link for tying in a link to something and IMG to add a photo from your file.

Here is how IMG works:
The girl next door!!

You mean a bit like this? Not for the girl next door, but the lady and her husband for their aniversary.

Ta for the tip and your welcome. This is the only forum that I have come across this method of posting photos.

I forgot to say that yes we do have some wnderful wine here. About 50 or so years back the focus was on quantity rather than quality, but a lot of hard work has gone into reversing that and now, wow! Some times we splash out and spend more than 6€ ob a bottle !!!
