All of a sudden I can’t access my favorite videos! Tom Fidgen, Paul Sellers and others… You Tube has gone into some unrecognizable web page and it won’t let me view the videos I like to watch. Doesn’t seem to matter whether I’ve logged in or not. When I manage to pull up a video, it appears to be coming from “m.you.tube.com” or some other not-quite-right address. Or some advisory that the video is ‘not available on a mobile device’ ...which I’m not even using!

According to Forbes website, You Tube is now a part of the Google empire, and there are new policies in effect which Google shares in the revenue from posted videos. Not ad revenue, I assume the article referred to royalties, which Google now takes a slice of! Independent artists who are not generating revenue from their video posts are getting left out in the cold.

Soon, it seems, the money-making video posts will all you’ll be able to see, and the guy who wants to post his dovetail-making video will have a hard time.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Or was I just re-routed through some Malware? Yikes.

Poopie – Not sure but I suggest clearing out the cache and history and cookies on your web browser and then see if that doesn’t fix your problem. Depending on what web browser you have depends on how you go about doing that.

No website does anything for free – it takes time and effort and they need revenue to pay for it.

I just read your post and went to YouTube. I was able to search and play any video I wanted including Fidgen and Sellers vids without issues on my phone.
It was all played of the m.youtube.com site.

Either I’m lucky or you have issues with your device connecting to YouTube.
Sorry you have issues.

https://www.youtube.com is working just fine on my laptop. Strange indeed poopiekat, I haven’t heard of this problem before so I’m just as baffled as you are.

You computer is directing you to the mobile site for some reason, clearing the cache might fix that. as suggested.

LOL, Google bought YouTube in 2006.

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies! I’ll do the cache thing with help from my son-in-law, when he gets a chance.
I’d never seen the m.youtube.com site before, indeed it must be for mobile users!

I fixed it.
At the very bottom of the YouTube page, you can toggle between [ ]Mobile [ ]Desktop.

Grandkids, y’know.

Thanks again for all the concern shown, everyone!
