Topic tags/keywords: dust collection reliant

I have a opportunity to purchase a reliant dust collection system for $50. I believe it is a 1 hp model nn720. I currently use a old Dayton system that is basically a shop vac. My guess is that the reliant would definitely be an upgrade but I am wondering if the system is worth picking up since the brand is no longer made. Here is a picture it also comes with hoses.

Looks the same as my jet 650. If it is, that’s a great deal. Quiet, sucks well.

It’s just a Taiwan badge. The brand is now… um, owned
if not supported by Woodworker’s Supply. Most reliant
machines were standard Taiwan items but there were
a few that were unusual such as the benchtop wide
belt sander.

Reliant was the house brand for a mail order dealer
called Trend Lines.

I picked up a 3 hp Reliant dust collector a few months back and it works as well as any of them I have seen. The bags are not very good though and an upgrade is in order. I’ll be building a thein separator soon and venting outdoors so that will eliminate the need to purchase better bags, that’s a good idea for any collector in my opinion. At $50.00 you are getting a really good deal on a standard issue Taiwanese machine. Check the impaler for damage and consider caulking the seams with silicone to get a good seal on the housing and you’ll be in business for a song.
