After 22 years of moderate use my Tormek sharpener is acting up. If I apply anything more than light pressure while grinding the motor bogs down. I’m not very mechanically inclined so I’m thinking if it’s not something simple (like brushes) I’ll be needing a replacement. I don’t even know if the motor has brushes. Has anyone already solved this problem?

I would give it a good cleaning. Take the grind stone off, then slide the wheel with the leather belt off. Inside you will find a shaft sticking out. That can get dirty and cause you some problems. Clean it all up and you might be good to go.
