Topic tags/keywords: question

I purchased 2 new 1/2” pony pipe clamps and they have this heli coil looking piece in the package.

What is it for?

They fit on the end of the pipe to keep the clamp from falling off.
Don’t have to use ‘em if ya don’t want.

Putting them over the threads on the non fixed end of the pipe helps keep the threads from getting mangled too; in case you want to use a pipe coupler to join two pieces of pipe to make a longer clamp.
