Topic tags/keywords: scroll saw craftsman huge

Hey guys, i recently acquired this enormous scroll/jig saw. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with finding blades for it? I think the guy who had it before me used a cut up band-saw blade on it. Do you guys have a value for this particular saw? When was it made?! So many questions. Anyways, thanks for looking!

I think that’s a Walker Turner made in the late 1930s. Go through this page of Craftsman scroll saws on the Vintage Machinery site. You can go to the publication reprint tab and see if a manual is posted as well.

As far as value, really not much $50-$100. If it works fine I would just use it if you have a need for one. You should be able to put any blades in it, if it takes blades without the pins I understand you can just tap the pins out. Check the oil in the gearbox there, I would assume to the top of that fill hole with the big cap and maybe 80 weight gear oil. People over at that site can definitely help you.

If you check in over at OWWM, you’ll find it’s common for guys to use pieces of a bandsaw blade for those old saw. Sears/Craftsman had a lot of companies make those saw for them, and that one looks an awful lot like a Walker Turner they have pic’d over at OWWM. I think they are probably not worth as much as you’d like to believe, but they are still some fun to tinker with. One thing about those older saws, they may have had some changes done to them over the years….so they often are not completely original.
