Hey Lumberjocks,

I’ve been perusing your site for a long time and just decided to join and post some photos of my work. You guys are such a great and positive community. Thanks!

I’m a teacher at the JD Lohr School of Woodworking. I started my career as an apprentice to Jeff Lohr and have learned a lot over the 8 years I’ve been with him. I just finished up filming a few classes with a company called Craftsy. They have a website where they produce interactive classes. You watch them on your own time and own it forever. I’d be happy if you’d check them out.

The first class is completely free..all you have to do is register with Craftsy. The class is called Flawless Finishing and it takes you through my process to get a really attractive and durable natural finish.

The second class is Doors for Cabinetry & Fine Furniture. In this class I take you through the design, construction, and fitting of doors for two cabinets. I install butt hinges and knife hinges, re-saw flat panels and cut raised panels on the tablesaw.

You can use the link here to get $10.00 off the sale price.

Or, you can answer this trivia question and I’ll get you in for free! The first person to answer correctly will get a free spot in the class.

Name the wood species from left to right.

Good luck!

Or you could just go to youtube.

Should have been titled “Check out my online classes that I’m asking $40 a pop for.”

Note also that “Own it forever”, really doesn’t mean anything
unless you have physical control of the media. If it’s streamed, it
simply means, “Own it until Crafty goes out of business or decides
it’s no longer in their interest to host that media for you.”

The perils of storing data you “own” in the cloud.

Awesome :)

My original gut instinct was Cherry/Cherry. But I didn’t get confirmation of that until I watched the first section of your finishing video where you lined up all 5 boards and mentioned what they were!

Rob,

Thanks for the link to the class. I’ll get to it this weekend (as long as my internet doesn’t act up!!)
