So, I have been browsing craigslist for about a month looking for a good planer and some other tools. I had just finished eating supper and was looking for some woodworking videos. So I start typing in google “woodworking” and missed clicked and it sent me to a craigslist search for woodworking. Now I have looked at most of these post but saw one that I hadnt clicked so I did. Low and behold, a guy in Atlanta was selling a Dewalt 735 planer with stand for $250. I thought for sure it had to be messed up or a old listing…NOPE it was posted 3min before I clicked. So I called the number and talked to the owner. He said “its pretty much new”and I was thinking “yea right” but I drove to 2 hours to make sure. Got their and this thing is immaculate. Was used once for a board and never used again. The dust was still on the floor from the board he planed. Needless to say Im a happy camper and on top of that got to go by Highland Woodworking while I was up their and was in hog heaven. Couldnt afford the tools in their but got to mess with some Festool stuff. Haha.

This guy was moving and was selling some other tools too like a Jet lathe with chucks and bowl turning items for $100 and a Delta contractors saw with T2 fence for $100. If I had more money I would have bought all 3 items.

So now the question, should I keep it on its stand or build a new one. Seems stable but Ive never used a lunchbox planer. Also, for a sled, what should I use? I saw a video of a guy who used a 2×10 to fix a warped board but couldnt that board get warped too? would plywood be better?

  • yes I know other have gotten better deals but this is my first one and Im happy*

All in all, a good day! Thanks guys!

Great score! I would definitely get the infeed/outfeed tables to go with this planer. Or make some. That stand looks a little flimsy for planning longer stock but you could use roller stand, etc to’catch’ longer stock

Your CL gloat has earned you one big…. YOU SUCK!!! ;^)

Andy is correct about the in/out feed tables.
I can’t speak to the stability of the stand….
My DW735’s home is atop an overturned cooler!!!

Congrats & enjoy the new toy, err tool!!!

Great fine!!!

I was able to purchase one off craigslist two years ago from a sailor being transferred to Guam got for $250.00 Great planer. You will need the in-feed and out-feed tables. Without you get a lot of snipe.

A 735 for 250 used once is a ridiculous deal you filthy bastard. I wish you had more money to snatch the rest of those tools up. He’s basically giving that stuff away.

Summer- the farmers market have been rained out for the past 2 weeks. I was also told I need a permit but im not sure why.

Fridge- yea, he just wanted them gone. The neighborhood he lived in had many houses over $500 and $600k. His house was very nice. Just a guy whos doing well off and didnt need the money.

Nice score. That stand is exactly what I have my 735 sitting on and it does a great job.
