Just thought I’d throw up a pic of my new lumber rack I finished the other day took me a couple hours to make and another 2 to install, its all from reclaimed 2×4s and 3/4” ply I had lying around. I am debating making either a long boxed cubby shelf for along the bottom or two wheeled bins that swing out for short or offcuts. I’ll post some pics of that once I decide and when I get it fully loaded.

I also copied Marc Spagnuolo’s design for this, I can tell you that it holds me with ease and I’m 170lbs the two 14’ 2” thick mahogany slabs on the bottom probably way more then me by themselves.

Looks good. My lumber rack was pretty similar, but it had cutoff bins at the bottom and sheet goods storage down low as well. I actually just had to move so mine is gone now. I think in my next shop, I will try to do vertical storage if possible, but sometimes the roof height pretty much nixes that.

Nice rack…...No shop is complete w/o a lumber rack…They are a must….I built one kind of like yours years ago, but decided on another type of rack…..If you’re thinking of building a ben for your short cut-offs, etc., you might consider one like I built (also seferal years ago)....Here’s a pix of it…....

Once again, I grow green with envy. I like the design. Looks really sturdy.

And all that wall space to store wood. I hate to think of all the wood I have given away or thrown out because I do not have the space to store it.

Once again, nice job.

You must have taken that photo right after you loaded up the new bin. It is wayyyyy to neat!!!!
My cut off bin looks more like a 3D end grain cutting board, from some angles.
