I recently read a topic and in some of the comments Ipe is considered to be a Brazilian walnut but Nogal is also so I was wondering if they were both one in the same, just two different names such as other species?

Never Mind I neglected to research before asking this question, Nogal is Peruvian not Brazilian.

Blackie, Roger, Gene. A triumvirate.
I often lose my place, too.

Hi, also Peruvian walnut is a real walnut, and for some reason is being sold at Woodcraft right now.. hmmm… Ipe is a specific Brazilian tree, but about 20 species related to Handroanthus and Tabebuia are all sold as “Ipe” and other than a few color difference are really hard to determine… though none are related to the walnut family. Just some added info from a Midwest city guy. :)

Nogal is spanish for walnut, no relationship there with ipe
