I don’t know if anyone is interested in having a get together in Cleveland, Ohio for local Lumber Jocks. Maybe a picnic or something similar.

If so, please send me a note. Who knows, maybe there are enough of us to start some kind of club… Lets see.

I look forward to hearing ideas.

Count me in… though maybe we should wait a few months for the picnic! I’m not much of an organizer – especially with a 2-year old and a 3-year old at home… but I’d be a happy participant.

organizing should not be a problem. Lets just try to get enough people. Obviously if we do the picnic thing, it wont be any time soon.

I was wondering if you were planing this during the snow storm . . . If my feet ever thaw out I may be able to get there.

As the new Jock on the block I think it would be a great time. Thoughts of a warm day and a picnic just might help me get through some of these cold snowy days.

I searched ‘Cleveland’ and i was excited to see this! I live in Jerusalem (Israel) but my parents are still in Cleveland—whenever i am back i look for woodworking activities and shops—Rockler recently closed, didn’t it? :-( Does anyone have any info on traditional woodworking in the Cleveland area? Thanks so much.

Hey Fellow Woodworker’s!

The Lake-Geuaga Woodworker’s Club has meetings and classes at Eagle America in Chardon, Ohio. I know it is a bit of a drive but the meetings are really great and the group sometimes gets together a rents booths for local craft shows to sell some of the various projects we make. The next meeting is scheduled for 2-17-09 and all skill types are welcome. Contact Dick Schamberger at or just show up for the meeting to check it out! FYI – I was just in Eagle America the other day and they are now carrying the full line of Flexcut carving tools as well as Festool! That place rocks!

Dear Giant

My idea was to not involve a retail business who is more interested in selling to the members than having a get together with no financial gain intended. I am sure that if you at Eagle wanted to have a lumber jocks picnic, folks would come.

I am sure that your club is a good one and a lot can be gained by being a part of it, but it is kind of obvious by your plug for a new line of tools that you are from that company.

hmm….according to Google Earth….it would take me 6 hrs 19 minutes….would have to bring my tent for sure!! Might be do-able if the timing is right….could sail there….but then the party would be over and everyone gone home!
