I took a few days last week to clean up some old junk around the barn and haul some scrap for a little tool money. I scaled in at the junk yard with 3600 lbs. of junk steel and dead electric motors. I scaled out with about four hundred back on the trailer in the form of this.

The man at the yard threw out a quarter a pound as the price so I took it home for $100. Gotta love quarter pounders!!! Rockwell Delta 37-315 Single phase 1 1/2 h.p. wired @120 volts. This one has the LVC box on it but it has an issue that I will have to track down. That is probably why it hit the bone yard in the first place. The fence adjusting lever was also popped out of the casting in the fence but wont affect operation much. I temp wired the motor and she sings nice and smoothly. There was a nice Delta 14 inch band saw right beside it that the man in front of me really wanted. Two good tools were saved and we cashed out back to back. I have wanted a good 8 inch jointer for a long time but haven’t wanted to afford one. This one will do nicely with just a few tweaks. Best part is that I still took home a check, just a little smaller!! I feel pretty good about the deal right now and think this will tune up nicely. I roughed out the mobile base Saturday night with some old roller blade wheels to move it around for now. It will need a good clean and paint in time.

You should feel pretty good about that deal!

Wow, nice job. I can’t believe someone would scrap that.

That’s a great deal, especially since you’re saving a great tool from being melted down.

I’ll bet you could fall in an outhouse pit and come out smelling like a rose! Talk about right place-right time. Good on ya my friend. Enjoy!

I got a few minutes to poke around with the controls tonight on this jointer and they work! Found 1 wire out of place and a second one loose. The fuse holder is broken so I jumped it and it starts right up. I have a friend ordering the needed parts tomorrow to replace the fuse and holder and I am in business! A little cleanup is still in order though.

Right place, right time does sum this one up nicely. I guess that I doth suck! Thanks for the comments. Cant wait to use this one.
