I’m about done with the carcass, but need to add an upper rail suppport. I want to dado these rails over 3/4”
plywood stock. Can anyone offer me the best way to accomplish this? I was thinking of dadoing a 4” or 5” wide piece of plywood stock along the edge of the door area, and then add one at 90 degrees.

Are you refering to your face front rails?
