Topic tags/keywords: ipe wood lumber exotic outdoor

I have about 350 board feet of Ipe I acquired from a fellow a while back. Boards are 4/4 8 feet, 4-8 inches with a few over 12 inches wide. A lot of the boards are figured. Moving as frequently as I do, it has been more of a burden to keep moving it all with me. I live in Southeast Arizona. I’m looking to sell this all together, and will let it go for $4000 or less than $12/board foot. I have it listed on CL, but figured I’d have better luck here. If anyone local to Southeast Arizona is interested, send me a PM. Can send pictures, can’t figure out how to upload them. Thanks!

Would anyone even consider buying this much wood in bulk, or is that unrealistic?

Realistically, I’m not sure anyone would buy that much in bulk unless they already had a large project in mind, like a deck or something. But good idea, I’ll shoot Marc a message and see if he’s interested in any of it.

If he buys it I want a finders fee. :) About 4 or 5 of the 12” x 8’ boards should do , shipped Pre Paid to San Jose Ca. .

Honestly there are so many lumber yards in the area I’m not sure he’d want it at that price. He goes to Spellman hardwoods and at my old job we got Ipe at business discount for $6-7 per board foot. I’m sure he has an account there. Gas/Shipping would be unrealistic to ship Ipe.

Oh wow I didn’t know it could be had for that cheap. Thanks for the info, glad I know what’s a little more realistic now.

Ipe has become really popular for high end deck material. Most lumber yards in bigger cities have it on hand and it’s getting cheaper as more is brought in. I can get 1×4x8 common decking boards for $2.19 a board on bulk. Granted this is not fine woodworking material the price per boards shows how common it’s becoming.

There is a lumber yard here in chicago that primarily deals in only ipe.

Paul.
