There’s too much belly-aching and not enough gratitude for the inspiration and community provided by Lumberjocks. For all the people behind the scenes who never get thanks and only get grief from complainers, I want to thank you for providing this amazing resource FOR FREE. I can’t express how much I’ve prospered by it through learning and friendship. I hope others will join me in expressing thanks.
Mitch

Well said, Furnitude.

I don’t mind a bit of grumpyoldmanism. We are primarily a bunch of garage/basement dwellers. It’s to be expected.

But still… A bit of joie de vivre is in order. Share some today!

Furnitude, Please, don’t hold back….. tell us what you really think! Lol!

On the other hand, I learned a few years back nor to sweat it and never go to the ”Off Topic” section. It is full of hate and discontent on just about every forum in existence! That’s why they are off topic…. they have nothing to do with the subjects that are of interest to the forum in general.
I’ve found that that is the only way to keep what little sanity I have left!

While I agree that we should be thankful for the site’s moderators I don’t think we are at all out of line if we complain about not liking something. As members we create all of the content for LJ including the inspiration and community mentioned by the OP. We should have every right to say to the owners who profit off of our free contributions that we do or do not like something about the site.

Thanks for posting this Mitch. I have to believe that the majority of members are very happy here. In any group there are a few “the sky is falling” types. I have advanced to where I am because of here. Honored to be part of here.

I am cautious about joining any group or association, and when I do it always after carefull consideration. I joined this board only after attending a gathering of NUBBERS in louisianna. Even then I hesitated for a time and read many pages of the thread before signing on. I found that 99.9% of the people on here are honorable and talented artists who love nothing more than sharing their love of woodworking with others. The moderators ask nothing of the members than to respect the dignaty of all who come here. Personalities differ throughout the thread but the basic premiss remains. Share your knowledge and respect the different styles of art. We joke and pick at each other on a daily basis and that is a major asset within the community. We also share our lives good or bad with each other. and hold each other up emotionaly when we are troubled. I am totaly thankful for the site and the opportunity it affords me to become a member of this FAMILY of caring supportive people.
Now I need to go and see if my sanding sealer is dry. BYE Y’ALL

Mitch, Amen to that! Cricket really seems to be on top of any concerns that come up.
