Hey everybody,

I was just on my local craigslist looking around and saw a decent deal on a big 18” JET bandsaw. This puppy would be a good deal for anyone looking for a resaw-capable bandsaw. My shop is full, otherwise I might go take a look. Just wanted to make it known. Maybe someone can make a deal on it. Here is the link.

I have the same saw and its a good one, but, there are problem saws out there. Check it out carefully!

That’s half of the price for a new Jet 18” band saw. It’s a good deal.

It’s way overpriced. That saw sold for $1000 to 1200 when new. I got one for $40 as part of a CL deal. Found it to be decidedly average and the company not what I thought it would be. Sold it for $750 to a newbie wanna be “gotta have a jet because it’s the best saw out there”woodworker . Replaced it with a rikon 10-340 for $700. Best move I ever made.

Those jets had a tendency to flex when being tensioned. For $950, a rikon 10-325 could be yours with as much power, more resaw capacity and a new tool guaranty.

But that jet is a really nice, pretty white.

There are some complaints and good reviews on that saw.
The one I have worked out good, I bought it used.
One thing about the CL saw above raises a red flag, is the owner put a link belt on it. Makes me think it has a vibration problem.
Owning the same model saw, I would want to see that one run with a 1” blade.
Jet claims the saw can take a 1 1/2” blade, that is stretching reality. A 1 1/4” blade is not easy to get on one.

The red flag for me is the new motor and bearings. That saw seems to new to need those kind of parts. Unless it was used a lot. Jet is one of those companies to me that is just rebadging everyone elses repops. I really don’t see where they command the price they get.
