Any folks build a DIY edge lipping planer?
Need to plane-down 3/4” x 7/8”+ poplar off a 3/4” plywood edge.

Found the Hoffman which is very nice, although a bit pricey.

Seems like this is a common task and there must be some DIY lipping tables or jigs that can be made with a mid-size router.
Any pics out there that can be posted would be great!

Thanks.

Success!
I wish somebody showed me this about 4 decades ago; all the years/time spent trying to make fast work out of this! Grumble!!!
The plan is easy – a 6” x 6” x 14” L shape with braces.
Add swing plate for router and a extra 1/2” “table” on bottom (aprox. 5”)

Will need to add a nice big handle and maybe vac fitting.

Had a $12 Yonico 14150 Straight Router Bit [1/2-Inch X 2-Inch Length 1/2-Inch Shank] which worked fine.

This jig meets all my criteria – works pretty good for the low cost (or no cost).
Would certainly be handy for a plywood shelving project. Just lay the boards down and trim wood edges (3’ or longer)

This sample is a 24” long project [wood edge on plywood] used the DIY trimmer, super smooth, very little sanding.

Have your say...
