Topic tags/keywords: unisaw tablesaw 5000 series delta pm2000 sawstop 36-l552

Does anyone have any idea what the new 5000 series is from delta machinery? I went to their site yesterday to look at their tenon jig and their main splash page has a count down timer with 7 days on it to reveal a new product line. Normally I wouldn’t be concerned, but I have a new Delta Unisaw 36-L552 on an ABF truck scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I would be SICK if they’re introducing a new saw and I plopped 3400.00 down for an older generation. They have a little teaser pic of the bottom of some stand and it doesn’t look like a cabinet saw, but it could be a contractor saw… Man… I never expected buying a saw and it being ‘obsolete’ before I get it… Like buying a new TV or cell phone!

The only real thing that I think would move me off the UNISAW that I have coming is if they have integrated some new ‘sawstop’ type braking technology in a new UNISAW. Then I’d have to really think hard about refusing shipment, paying a restocking fee and getting the new technology. But hell I can’t tell what their introducing!!

I can’t really think of anything that it’s really lacking aside from braking technology and improved dust collection including an over blade dust collection. I may have to let it sit here in boxes until I see what they’re revealing.. :(

You’re good. The 5000 series appears to be for the contractor saw line, adding options like a 50” fence and one piece rails.

Looked at the site and all the options for each model yesterday and they were all contractor/hybrid saws.

You are safe my friend.

I follow that blog, as well as a few others, to keep abreast of what is happening in the tool world. I find out more that way than I do from the tool companies’ sales reps.

I’m going to have to start doing that… Do they have an RSS feed or something?
