Hey there folks. I’ve been meaning to get around to putting together a quick video tutorial on what IFTTT is, and how to use it. Best of all, it’s free and all done on the web.
Everything’s explained in the video, but I’ll throw some cliffnotes here for reference as well.
IFTTT (If This Then That) is a site that you can use to set up triggers that’ll do a ton of different things.
What I, personally, use it for as far as woodworking goes is to set up craigslist notifications.
Example: I decide I want to start looking around for a used jointer. Instead of checking craigslist daily, I just head over to IFTTT.com and set up a notification so that as soon as someone posts one in my area I receive an e-mail notification. Really helps get ahead of the competition (until everyone starts using IFTTT).
Cheers all, I hope the video helps you out….and watch those bank accounts….buying tools is, as we all know, a slippery slope!
