Hi,
A friend has harvested several large bass trees due to the recent tornado. I went and looked at them and they are about 18-22” in diameter. Anyone interested in them, let me know and I’ll get you in touch with him.

Wish I was somewhat close to you. Good luck.

Thanks Monte,
I’ve never used basswood and from what I understand it does not have much of a grain pattern and is used mostly by wood carvers.

gfadvm, Thanks a bunch. He has a portable sawmill and access to a band saw mill. I am buying his walnut and cherry and little basswood just to see what basswood feels and look like.

I was given a lot of it from a a coworker and might get through it all after a few thousand crank baits or so. It can get a little fuzzy but cleans up easy enough. I haven’t carved too many things but dedefinitely carves well.

Also I think everyone that gets some does the Roy Underhill nail trick with it.

Have your say...
