Hey everyone – i have been keeping my eye on the following jointer for a few weeks now. price started at $500, then was dropped to $450 a week ago. Trying to get opinions on the model and also the value.

I currently have a Yorkcraft 6” jointer in good shape that i can probably fetch $200 for if i purchase the Jet.

My funds are currently topping out at $400, so i may just offer the guy that to see if he bites. I think it would be a good deal for $400…thoughts?

An 8” jointer for $400 is a fair price. I’ve seen them
for $250 but that’s rare. $350-$450 is the general
going rate with Powermatic worth a bit more.

I think it depends on where you are. I looked for over a year in the northern Illinois / SE Wisconsin market and ended up spending $600 and driving a hundred miles to pick it up for an 8” Grizzly – that said, it runs great and is rust free and accurate. I’m really glad I got it.

It seems to me that $450 for a pretty good 8” joiner is a good deal.

That Jet is identical to the Enco 8” jointer I have. It’s a good machine. The bed is a bit shorter than modern 8” jointers (66” if I recall), but it’s been great for me.

I got mine for $300, which was a really good deal. I’d pay $400 if the motor and tables are perfect.

Does it come with the mobile base? If so, I think $400 looks like a good deal if it runs smoothly and the tables are flat.

I have a Jet 8”, and they are good solid machines. Even though that one is a little older, it’s well worth the $450 (IMHO) and if I was looking it would be snatched up already.

Seems reasonable.
I paid $400.00 for Powermatic
