Topic tags/keywords: jigsaw

I took the foot off of my jigsaw and found an Allen wrench inside, along with a small, flat piece of metal (shown below):

I didn’t see anything about this piece in the manual – does anyone know what it is for?

Thanks,

David

It’s a prize that goes with the Allen wrench. Dang, you’re lucky. :)

I called Makita and they said it was a leaf spring. They weren’t lying:

but what the heck does it do? I have had it out of the saw entirely for a while, and it seems to be working just fine!

It’s piece #75 in this diagram:

It sits between the baseplate and the base shoe and keeps them sprung apart, useful when adjusting the angle of the baseplate.

I also have a Makita Jig Saw except it’s Model #4323, Variable Speed as is Yours Model #4350FCT.

Mine is also 16 Years Old now and functions as well as it did on Day One. Maybe because I enjoy Tearing Down my Power Tools, Cleaning & Lubricating them. Nice Shiny BRASS Gears.

Mine does not have that Leaf Part. I have ALL of my Equipment & Manuals Downloaded onto My Computer.

Thanks for that Parts link by the way. I Bookmarked It and Downloaded another Parts Blow Up.

I blew up the location of the Spring and the Spring Itself. As Below, in case you might want to keep them.

I believe it’s to hold part #77 in place when screw #76 is loosened or removed to change the angle of the foot or remove it all together.

Believe You are correct Big Block. My set up is different and incorporates the Blade Roller.

At 16 Years Old, it can do it whatever way it wants to. ...LOL.. Still Runs & Cuts like a Charm.
