I think this made the rounds a while ago. Still lucky though:-)

Good video. I always use the riving knife, but I will confess that I do not use the blade guard. The thing just makes it too hard to do the kind of narrow cuts I sometimes need to do. I suppose I should stick to using my band saw for that kind of work. I will note that after doing a lot of cutting I still have not had a board snag that way, probably because of the riving knife. Instead of using the push handles like he did (which I do use when operating the jointer/planer), I instead use a long, and stiff push stick. I also stand well to the side of the blade, so that if a piece did slam straight back it would miss me.

I’ve seen that before and he got really lucky. I’ve had one kickback because I had taken my riving knife out for some reason and forgot to put it back, Was a small piece of wood and was using push sticks, scary crap and hurt like crap, if i were a few inches taller i might of had to go to the hospital due to the delicate area it would have hit.

I couldn’t believe how close a call that was for his finger. Good video, and should be required watching for every table saw owner.

Table saws scare the crap out of me, and that’s a good thing. It makes me careful.

Remember One Thing People. He did this ON PURPOSE!

I’ve been using Table Saws for 15 Years Now. NEVER a KICKBACK. Yes. I always use a Riving Knife. I think that’s Key to No Kickbacks.

I also am not SCARED of Table Saws but I do RESPECT them for what they are and what they can do if your NOT Careful.

If you really do get all tied up in knots (Scared, Fear ETC.) every time you use a Table Saw, You’ve already lost half of the Battle.
