Topic tags/keywords: red oak north carolina

Hello all… This is my first post here and I figured that since there are so many GREAT woodworkers among the members, someone out there can help me.

I just moved from Vegas to Southport, North Carolina 28461 and have a brand new house with my own 2 car attached garage, heat and AC and I’m ready to continue with my woodworking hobby. In Vegas, I had a great supply of hardwood, primarily Red Oak in a nice store called Peterman Lumber. They were terrific!! Now, I can’t seem to find a lumber yard here or close to here that has a good supply of Red Oak or other hardwoods. Yes, I can buy some at Lowes or HD but I use quite a bit and would rather purchase by the board foot. I’d love to find out where all the cabinet makers get their material. The closest large city to me is Wilmington and I’ve looked at a few but was disappointed.

Any ideas where I can find some nice 3/4” Red Oak???

Hey Nick I agree with you … I was on vacation in Va. earlier this month and just drooled at all the hardwoods and sawyers there … Then I came home and had to pay $8.25 BF!! ... and that was on sale!!
Kind of makes you want to hire a truck.
