My wife got stung by a scorpion 4 times last night in bed.

She gets up, looking in the bed, I ask what she is doing and she indicated something got her on her foot. She did not appear in pain, just very casual then all of a sudden she grabs her shorts while yelling in pain. As she quickly begins to strip down. Out comes a scorpion. We were barefoot so the scorpion was able to hide under a few things. I quickly put my boots on and was able to locate the scorpion and killed it.

So in the end, she was stung 3 times in her groin, and once on her foot.

Not a good deal at all…

I hope she’s not allergic to the poison,it could have been serious.
I get more than mild heebie-jeebies if I ever see a scorpion ,so I guess you could call it a phobia, wouldn’t know how I would react if I were in your shoes seeing one crawling out of my bed.

I’m glad you killed the sob.

This is Jerry’s wife, and I thank you for your concern. As far as texan scorpions, bigger is not always better. These scorpions are just a nuisance like a hornet. I am fine, as according to my dear husband “Push through the pain, dear, you’ll be alright.” However, I know it is my duty sometimes to milk this thing so as not to have to be in the shop all day. I do like my naps just as much as the other guy(or gal). I might add, peculiar thing about scorpion stings is that the lips and tongue go a little numbish much like when the novacane wears off.

Wow,I had no idea, one thing I have heard and know it to be true :the fatter the tail the more deadly is the poison.

Anyhow,you are alright,that’s what matters.

I think you can milk it a little.

She is doing good now, I’m sort of a slave driver. We get up this morning and I was talking to her about all the doors that need to get stained. She’s a tough wife. If it were me I probably would have been nearly crying.

I agree John, it does hurt just thinking about it. ;)

Hey John, There are scorpions there in Florida also so look out for them. When living in Florida I would only see about 1 scorpion a year, here in Texas I see about 1 scorpion a week. But those scorpions do exist in FL. :)

YIKES!!! I live in Texas and have spent plenty of time outdoors. Luckily, no scorpion stings. I’ve seen plenty but never been stung.

I did however forget to shake my shoes out one day after they had been on the porch. There was a little surprise in there, luckily just a lizard.

Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the warning. The only unwelcomed guest we’ve had so far is a gator that’s in the lake behind our house.

We’ve seen him a couple times in the past few months,so we’re keeping a close look out for him, since our back yard goes right to the water.

Hope your wife is feeling better.

We have a lot of them here in Arkansas too. They like cool, moist places and love hiding under wood piles. One of them got me in the back as I rolled in bed; talk about rude awakening. Three of them would cause me to declare war on the creeps.
