Hi all. This old looking Belsaw
planer has been on CL for weeks
not far from me@ $125.00. Looks old to me and
could probably get it for a buck
(Idk but has been on for awhile ) I don’t need a planer but I’m
always looking for a good deal. I’ve been wanting to bring a old
tool/machine back to life but also
would like to sell it if need be for
at least what it cost to fix. Is this
A good place to start ? Any input
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You should be able to sell a fixed up Belsaw for $300-$400
or maybe a little more. The rollers can wear out. Belsaw
still sells them. The feedworks uses a chain and sprocket
and some of the sprockets can wear.

They are decent planers and accurate. I liked mine a lot,
though dust collection wasn’t as good as other planer designs.

I would consider that to be an excellent deal. Would have grabbed that long ago.

I own the 12” woodmaster, very similar to that belsaw.

I don’t think there is anything to think about, just go buy it. I think it has a 5 up motor, probably single phase.

I think I might have looked at that planer too! Called the guy to double check his story and he said it sold after only being up for a week, and it was posted on 4/15. Someone else who it too ignorant or arrogant to pull the ad down so as to not advertise something for sale that is no longer for sale. Obviously he lied to one of us if he told you it sold this morning. I regularly see them in the $400-$600 range in good shape. That one would certainly have been worth refurbishing. For me probably to resell due to the 12” width.

Hard to tell, some people have to much time on hand.

Keep watching for another one, they are worth the money. I know the 12” woodmaster cost around 2,000.00 brand new so grabbing that at 400 would be a great deal. It can be used to run molding knives and cut your own crown, case and base.

This is a little farther away: http://muncie.craigslist.org/tls/4490669350.html but looks to be in good enough shape to need little if any refurbishing. Probably cheaper when you take that into consideration. It was just listed 5/27 so it might not be around for long!

Thanks for all your replies and help.
I have a bentchtop planer (tp1300)
I just can’t pass up a good deal, need
it or not & also like fixing things up to
use or sell and buy better tools.mine are
all pretty much bentchtop ,not low end
but not high end either so I’ve been
slowly upgrading. So far I’ve come out
ahead a couple times. Thanks again

This is a little farther away, but an even better deal at $170, for some reason the pictures depict two different motors, hopefully it’s the Leeson being included in the sale: http://southbend.craigslist.org/tls/4544800434.html

I restored one http://lumberjocks.com/donwilwol/blog/series/5401

I don’t know what its worth, but I use it a lot. I’ve got less then $100 in mine. I hope it outlast me, but its already paid for itself.
