Just joined lumberjocks! I started building a shop air filter and would welcome any suggestions. My furnace took a crap and I figured I could put the old motor to good use. I’ll provide pics showing progress to date.

Hi Goggy;

Since there are a number of units on the market, I would just follow their lead.

I know they work well, so why bother reinventing the wheel.

My FIL has spent more time and money on making numerous air filters for his homing pigeon coops that in the end he could have bought one from the international space station and now, he finally bought one from the co-op.

I dont think you can have enough of them.

I looked at a breakdown of a JDS model 10-16 and am following that lead as suggested. Seems basic enough where I’ll give it a shot. I should have it done by this evening. A local tool supplier has bag filters ($51) and the other two filters are available at the big box lumber store. I’ll incorporate a three gang switch (for each speed) as well. Thanks!

Looking forward to the final pictures and how much you had in cost…...... Might be interested in making one myself.

Interesting and informative John! I’ll post my pics on Tues. cabinetmaster. BTW, it seems as though this thing will not be as light as I originally thought.

Have your say...
