After researching for months, I think I’ll be replacing my now old and rattling BT3100 for a Bosch 4100. Decision is based on usage and space (budget is not a problem). Love the modularity of the extensions and the compact foot print, manageable weight. Reviews are stellar. On top of that, all my Bosh tools (router, drill, sander…) works like champs since day one, never failed me.
I do not have a lot a room in the shop and i almost never build “big” think. For example in 14 years in the hobby I have yet to cut over 1.5” thick hardwood. So no need for 3HP and 52” rip fence.
Looked at the Powermatic, Delta, Laguna, Grizzly, Jet, Riidgid, SteelCity… They’re all too big, heavy and bulky for me.
But i may i have missed someone, overlooked the elusive brand, the unicorn of table saw…
If so, please let me know, I’ll really appreciate !!!!!

Just keep in mind the move from a bt3100 to a 4100 is a lateral move and not really an upgrade. I did not like the fence on the 4100 at all. It didn’t always lock parallel to the blade, regardless of adjustment.

If I couldn’t have a full size cast iron saw my search for a portable light weight saw would have to include the Bosch 4100’s little brother, the GTS1031 and the Dewalt 745. I just can’t bring myself to spend almost $600 for a plastic and aluminum saw with a direct drive universal motor like the 4100. I know it’s probably the best in class, but I just can’t see that much value in that class of machine.

Accurate comments, but really i do not need a big saw, i need a good saw.
Well I did found what will be great but unfortunately not available in the USA. Sniffff….
The Festool CS 70 EB-Set. Exactly what I’m looking for. We’ll see if it comes here in the future…
