I don’t know how good these vises are but the prices seem pretty good. Thought I would post this for folks who might be interested.

Has any body any experience with this brand of vises?

The brown truck should drop one off here today. I will let you know what I think of them after I have had time to look it over.

When buying something like that, I’ve found it’s best to be able to put your hands on it and see how tight it is or if it’s made with sloppy manufacturing tolerances. Buying online can be ok if you’re able to return it if you don’t like what you get.

All I can say about it today is that the big brown truck dropped it off and I opened the box…. Spent the day with the wife, today marked 21 years. Tomorrow I will take it over to the shop and get a better look at it. Also have to un pack the new Rikon 14” Deluxe Band saw Model 10-325 I picked up at Woodcraft. Should be a busy weekend for me !

Congratulations, 21 years is an great track record! I have the same BS and once I learned how to set up a BS properly I am super pleased with it! Resawing is a pleasure.

I took the vise out to the shop today and gave it a look over. I spent about $20.00 for this thing and I must say I spent too much for it. I looked at the same size vise at Woodcraft the other day, and never looked at the price. The vise I got from Woot is a cheep imitation of a vise ! The jaws are not square with each other, as in the top of the jaws close tight and a the bottom of the jaws have a good size gap. In order to clamp a board that is 3 1/2” wide you would have to use no more than a 1/4” spacers on each side. With 1/2” you will only have 1 thread holding the thing together.
My advise is to spend the extra $$ and get a better vise.

Thank you very much for getting back to us about what you thought of the vise! I really appreciate it and I’m sorry it wasn’t a good buy for you.

Thank you for the review. Too bad it wasn’t a good tool.

Lowes sells a Bessey vice that looks very similiar to that vise for $20. The Bessey I got though was square. As someone else mentioned though, it was nice to be able take it out of the box and play with it in the store before I bought it.

Looks like the Tekton offering would excel at holding down papers on a windy day and maybe that’s it.

Watch the sales at Menards. They carry a Pony version of the vice discussed above that can be had for around 25 or 30 on the odd sale. Not a bad vice for what it is, and it even includes a pop up “dog.”

Hey, you know what? Posting a crappy tool is a great review. It keeps others from ending up with crappy tools. Everybody’s got one (or more!). You could make a thin tapered or shimmed face for one jaw. Put it on your bench and use it as your “beater” vise (and ENJOY abusing it!).
