Topic tags/keywords: tool box wooden marbles

Can you give me a guideline, estimate, of what this vintage solid wooden tool box might be worth please?

It measures 31” x 12.5”. The lid depth is 1/5”. Inside base depth is 4”. It has the original brass handles.

It’s not in immaculate condition… a little TLC on the lid and buffing up the handles… but you can hopefully get enough information from the photos.

If you have zero idea, please tell me who I can contact.

Thanks and hope to hear from you very soon. I haven’t got much time to find out. I took it with me overseas, to Central America, but I can’t bring it back again and I’m leaving in June. Therefore I need to sell this lovely vintage box.

Guessing it’s extremely rare and cannot find a photo of it anywhere in Google Images.

Why can’t you bring it back again?

Because I would need to pay for a container, at a crazy price, and my other valuables aren’t worth that much. I will be returning with 2 suitcases and 2 dogs… that’s it. There are other things I have here that I would love to bring back but the cost of the container is far too high and too difficult to get organised from here (much easier when I did the container thing from the UK… but then they whalloped me with Import Tax/Duty that I shouldn’t have paid… but that’s corruption for you in Latin America!

I could but I already know the cost to USA let alone the UK. I don’t know it’s value but it’s not the only thing I won’t be shipping home; I’m trying to sell up everything but it’s this lovely piece I’ve no idea how much it’s worth so I can advertise it here. I don’t know who else to ask… maybe a museum of some sort.

Is a conjectural appraisal here even going to help you?

Why don’t you list it on eBay, with a modest reserve, and include a postage calculator in your listing. There will be people worldwide interested in bidding, and you’re sure to get the box’s real worth on the market, based on the bid activity.

I’ll give $5 for it.
