I would love to hear your ideas on things we can do to improve LumberJocks.com for you.

What things do you love?

What things are you not so crazy about?

Are there features you would love to see added or fine-tuned?

How about adding a ‘zoom to top of page’ button. Click the up arrow and it takes you back to the top of the page without scrolling. Either that or add a watch/unwatch button at the end of the posts.

The ability to ‘watch’ a bog series. Notification would be sent when the next in a series were created. That would allow as series to be followed without it necessarily being authored by a buddy.

Thanks for asking
I would like to be able to organize favorites .

I would also like it if you could return to were left we off on a post if you follow a link. Many threads that have a lot of post there are buttons for the next 15 post so after viewing two or three of these extension buttons with 15 more post, if you follow a link and come back you have to start at the top of the thread and keep extending it until you get where you left off before going to the link.

I also think it would be a good idea to have a flag button on the original post not just the comments. That way if there’s something way out there in the post (Like porn etc.)it could be reported quickly and with little effort.

It would be great if we could send photos in PMs too.

Ability to search for posts within a specific thread.

Change the “time since last post” to show the actual time on the clock that the last post was made. Additionally, who the most recent poster was. This makes it much easier to scan threads from the main forum page.

Add a button to send a PM directly from someone’s avatar, rather than having to go through their profile page.

Here is my “wish list”
  1. Bring back the UI to search for projects by gag (I currently play around with the URL e.g. http://lumberjocks.com/projects/tag/coffee+table)
  2. Follow a blog series
  3. Youtube embedding
  4. Save drafts of blog entries and/or projects before publishing for the public
  5. Map view of Shops

Paxorion, have you tried this method of embedding videos?

No matter what features you add to the website itself, it won’t mean a thing until you do something about the server the pages sit on.

I routinely access LJ from 3 different physical sites with 3 different internet providers. LJ sucks at all 3 locations so I blame whoever is doing your web hosting. Problems include minutes (MINUTES! on a 20 Mbps line) delay in loading pages, scrambled posts using your posting tool and again, minute delays while posting before the posting tool closes.

Cricket – Thanks for noting that. Good to know that there is a way to embed as is. And given your blog post, would it be possible to include that into the official documentation (http://lumberjocks.com/help/writing/embedding-pictures)

How about a way to rotate images after they’re uploaded.
