Okay, so I hit up a few yard sales yesterday and picked up a few things. The tools aren’t all that spectacular, but I came home with a spare Stanley SW heart plane blade, a Stanley chisel (probably a cheap one, but at least it’s made in USA. I’ll likely just use it for stuff I don’t want to use my nicer chisels on, like glue and such), a Simonds rasp (apparently this is for horse hooves. The rasp is pretty gunked up and a bit dull, but I’ll give her a scrubbing and a vinegar bath and see if it’s worth keeping. At the very least I got a Lutz wood handle for pocket change, which I need anyway), an old Graffam compass (ever heard of this company out of Worcester, MA? Me neither). All for $3… Not bad, but what I’m really excited about are the Fine Woodworking magazines that I scored for free. Issues 1-2, and 20-67, plus issues 11 & 13 of Fine Homebuilding. I offered some cash, but the guy wouldn’t except it. His wife was making him clean out the house, and he just wanted them to go to good hands. I’ll be sure to pay that one forward if I ever want to get rid of them. Not a bad haul for three bucks!

I’ll also add that I got a huge spring clamp too that isn’t in the picture. You can never have too many!

Wow, I see some very early issues of FWW there! Great score, and do pay it forward when the time comes!!
