Hi all,

I have three small boxes that I completed except for the finish a long time ago. (Maybe ten years.) At the time I was experimenting with different finishes for the lid panels only. I know I used oil based poly on one, danish oil on another and I don’t remember what else. The bodies of the boxes are still un finished. I’ve finally decided to finish them but have no idea what to use so they don’t peel etc. I’d like to use danish oil folowed by buffing with wax. Would something like a coat of Zissner SealCoat work? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Rich L

Dewaxed shellac will pretty much go over any finish (except maybe milk paint) and like wise you can put anything on top of it.

Jim is right. Dewaxed shellac (sealcoat) is compatible with all of the commonly available film finishes.
