Topic tags/keywords: bug report

Occasionally I get redirected to Garden Tenders, been happening since yesterday or the day before.

Example, the thread Parts of a bowl in woodturning links to a URL in Garden Tenders

http://ftp.gardentenders.com/topics/60111

Rick:

I went into “Woodturning” and tried that thread. Worked okay for me.

Even when I clicked on your Link above that clearly says “Gardentenders” it still went to Lumberjocks.

How that happens ….... Who Knows???

The only way I can get to the thread is go to the GT link, click on “back to Woodturning forum” which also becomes a GT link, then click on “Parts of a wood bowl” which then redirects me to LJ.

Goofy. once before I have tried to click on a blog and it kept sending me to the homerefurbers site. I just figured the link was broke.

And now almost every thread in the Power Tools, Hardware and Accessories Forum is redirecting me to homerefurbers. This is starting to get annoying. Since no one else seems to be having the problem I’m thinking if it could possibly be anything on my end but since I have never visited those forums I don’t see how.

”Since no one else seems to be having the problem I’m thinking if it could possibly be anything on my end…”

BINGO! I do believe you’ve found the Problem. “Something” on your Computer is causing the Problem. Have you cleaned out all of the “Junk Files” lately?

As per My Post #3 above it has never happened to me, and judging by the lack of response to your Post it’s not happening to anyone else either.

Good Luck!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

EDIT: I searched for the “Gift” thing. It came up. I went to His Home Page. Right Clicked on that Project to check ”Properties”.

Copied the URL that came up. It was “http://lumberjocks.com/projects/100462”

Came back here. Fed that URL into the Address Title Block, clicked on it and it took me right to His Project.

Let’s see what happens when I set This Post up with that Link.

LINK Is HERE

Just tried it. Went Straight There, No Problem.

Now YOU try it and see where You end up. (Redirects OR Not)

I was being facetious, it is not possible for anything on my end to cause this as I would need control over Escalate Media servers. It isn’t that I’m just being redirected to a different website, malware could do that, but LJ content is being generated on a different Escalate web site, one that I’ve never visited nor am a member of. Also note it is a ftp url instead http. Maybe something to do with the scripts generating dynamic urls.

The problem itself is not permanent. I can go back and access the page with a correct url anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours later.

By any chance, did it happen when you clicked on a result in the search function?

Cricket:

Why did I Spent 30/40 Minutes and FOUR POSTS trying to Help A Member, then after the fact I’m told …...

“I was being facetious, it is not possible for anything on my end to cause this …..”

It’s NOT The Site! No one else has the “Problem”. So that leaves what? DUHHHHH!

When and Where the ”Facetiousness’ started? I have no Idea. Maybe the Entire Post? Even if it started at #7, it doesn’t exactly make Me A “Happy Camper”. To put it Politely!!!

”facetious”
1.Treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant

”facetious”
..2 ..means something not meant to be taken seriously.

If that is the case Mr. McQuay! Then (Removed On Edit!)

It isn’t a problem you can solve. I appreciate that you wanted to try but this is a technical issue. I never actually believed it was anything on my end as I don’t see how my browser could change the application layer and url to a completely different website as I would need access to those servers, access I don’t have. I thought that would be obvious.

I don’t know whether this is a server problem (it does inject fully qualified urls in some links, and redirects), or a DNS/browser problem on your end.

But lumberjocks.com, ftp.homerefurbers.com and web3.escalatemedia.com, all have the same ip address.

As to which website you end up at. It is possible that code on the server determines which website from the url.
