My dog normally RUNS to the basement door when I say we are going to the shop. He has a bed in my shop and loves being around.

The last 2 days I have been jointing and planing lumber for a client that bought 800bf of cherry and didn’t have the means to do so. My Beagle is normally right by my feet or in his bed while I’m in my shop.

After 2, 4 hours days of machine work this is his reaction to me asking if he’s ready to go downstairs for work.

He’s a beagle, a lemon beagle his skin and nose are pale as opposed to a regular dark skinned dark nosed beagle.

Cool, I’d never heard of a lemon beagle before.

My first dog, when I was a kid, was a beagle. I’ve always had a soft spot for them. Mine was stubborn! We lived in the country and he would go hunting. I loved to hear him baying when chasing a rabbit. You’d see a rabbit run by and sometime later here would come Hugo (that right I named him Hugo, just seemed to fit). He always managed to find something rotten or horse crap to roll in. I was forever having to give him a bath! He was a great friend.

My current dog (a Dobie) doesn’t like to hang in the shop. He leaves when the noisy tools start up. Probably just as well. I’m sure the noise and dust is not any more good for him then us humans and they don’t have dust and hearing protection for dogs. I have a cat I have to watch, he hangs out and is into everything. If I don’t chase him out help jump right up on the table saw or any other equipment I am using, to watch.

What a cute dog, never seen a lemon beagle either….

I don’t know what I’d do with out my little buddy. I get to take her to work with me a couple days a week too. I wish I could clone her!
She thinks she’s a human

She is gorgeous! Great addition. Sounds like you truly have a “pack”. Who’s the alpha?

This is Sophie. She comes down to the basement shop to visit. I’ve got an old pet bed for her to lay on. She’s too old to lay on the concrete floor.

This is Dana. She won’t come down. I think she is afraid of the wooden staircase. She’s fine on a carpeted stair but not on slippery wood. My wife had to drag her down last summer during a tornado warning.

I’m surprised that the noisy machines don’t bother Sophie. She’ll lay next to me while I run the router. She is free to leave at anytime but chooses to stay.

My shop dog is a Brittany spaniel. He often goes to my wife’s office. You can see the blanket on the floor by the jointer, that’s his spot. Jointer doesn’t bother him because he’s basically deaf.
