Hey all, I have a buddy turning 50 in sept, and he’s into shooting. Mostly .22s, and I know he collects a few older rifles.

I know little about guns and what a shooter has for a typical setup, but I’m looking for project ideas for his b-day gift. I’m sure I could get more info as to what he has and more info as to what he does if that helps.

You could build him a nice gun stock from some really figured walnut.

A box for a pistol and ammo would be easy to make. Put in an inlay, Kinda’ like this one.

Shooting sports can get a bit specialized. Might ask him what he needs or would like.

Good advice from the others. Let him choose. Tell him to keep his firearms secure in a locker or safe.

Thanks for the input. I spilled the beans, and he mentioned a Mosin Crate, (which is a crate in which Mosin rifles were shipped) retrofitted into a coffee table.

He said he’ll look to see if he can get an original, and then I’ll retrofit it. Many people use it as a coffee table/display case. Google “mosin crate coffee table”.
