Is this a good deal at $99? Or am I better off with a Dremel Multi-Max ($129), or the Ridgid system ($79)?

Based on the negative reviews, I would not buy the Makita. I would try the Harbor Fright at 1/3 the cost and work it hard the first month. If it quits on you, you can return it to HF for a refund. Check this out: http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/product/3242

this is a great dea and goes for as low as$20 or 25 from time to time

Very Cheap in NZ you can buy BRAND NEW renovators (the same) for $150 and its Makita
