Just a heads up – If you are in or around the Jacksonville, FL area, Florida Southern Plywood has 4/4 and 8/4 Sapele,Iroko and Padauk going for $5.00 bf right now.

Have a good one

Outstanding deal on the padauk. I paid around $18. bf here in Tx, but its a beautiful wood and pretty easy to work with. Sapele has grain that looks very similar to padauk’s, but the color isn’t nearly as rich and deep. I think I paid about $5.50 bf for 4/4 sapele.

If I lived near Jacksonville, I’d buy as much of that padauk as I possibly could afford (and probably more).

This is a great tip for someone.

The cheapest I can normally find Padauk is around $10 a bf, so this is a great deal for our area. Trying to get the wife’s approval to load up the truck… I’ve never worked with Sapele, but the few times I’ve seen it local, it was around $11 a bf. Never heard of Iroko until yesterday, but they told me it was a substitute for teak.
