’m new to this board and happened to find it. Im near Birmingham Al. I’d like to see if there is anyone that might be able to guide me to any builders or persons that might be interested in purchasing some wood I have. I tore down an old home that was built in 1836. I have the foundation timbers which are 10×10 and 22 ft long. I have all the wall timbers which are 3×3 and 16 ft. I have wall supports which are 3×8 by 20 ft. I have a lot of the old tongue and groove flooring, the stair case, wainscot and chair rail.

The foundation timbers are heart pine, the wall supports and timbers that supported the walls are all cedar.

The rings in this wood count at least 150-200 and thats just the center count. This wood is over 400 years old. I have all the documentation on the house as well as the history. If there is anyone that may be able to help me I’d appreciate it.

The reason I’m having to sell it is because I sold my land that it’s stored on and the people that bought it want it moved. I had a change of plans and am planning a move to Montana so Id like to get a fair price for it. The nails are still in it. they are the old iron nails.

Im just looking to get a fair price. Not sure what that may be.

My email is if there is anyone that might have any information that could help. Thanks.

I build furniture out of reclaimed wood in Montgomery al, I’m not a big operation, and I doubt I have enough space to store all of the wood but I would love to check out what you have. If you havent already contacted anyone here are two people I have used in the past: or
If there are still nails in the wood, that usually knocks off just a few cents per board foot. It would be hard to give you an estimate on what the wood should bring you without seeing it. Let me know if you still have the wood and I will hopefully be able to come take a look.

Have your say...
