Topic tags/keywords: scroll saw scrollworking question

Of those of you that have an opinion, what is the best book on scrolling that’s out there now. Something as detailed and illuminating as the Garett Hack book is for the handplane, not just a book of patterns.

Patrick Speilman who was a leading light among authors specializing in the router and the scroll-saw lamentably passed away several years ago. I’m not sure who the current commonly available guru is.

Thanks to all who comment…

Douglas,

Spielman’s “New Scroll Saw Handbook” is the best I have. Goes from mind numbingly basic to advanced stuff. You can read it all or just reference what you need to know.

I’ve found some help at various websites of hobbyists…patterns…instruction on how to use Corel Paint Shop Pro X to make patterns…books are great, but the Internet is proving to be a book all by itself…lots of info online with the right search phrases.

HI Douglas;

It’s crossed my mind to make a fold down shelf, deep enough for a laptop, directly across from the throne.

Then I would never have to come out! LOL

Douglas,

if there is a certain pattern or technique you are looking for ever I have a huge scrolling library and I have about 4 years of scrollsaw magazine. Feel free to ask!
