Getting started with wood working and I am trying to find a good source of lumber. I am currently planning on using 2×4s or somthing similar from the local box stores to for practice work. But it us never to early to start looking for a good source of lumber. I am in the SW corner of Oklahoma, so north Texas is not out of the questions. And help would be appreciated.

First, move to a part of the country that has trees . . .

I have relatives in OK, and trees would appear to be near extinction there.

CharlesA, Your relatives must live West of I-35. We have LOTS of trees in NE Oklahoma!

Andy, you beat me to it. You need wood in OK, you call Andy.

I was mostly kidding, but it is actually true that Oklahoma doesn’t produce a wide variety of tree species:

Welcome to Lumberjocks.

Talk to Andy, I do and he’s pretty darn nice!
