Is anyone familiar with the ELEPHANT 6” JOINTER MODEL WJ-150? I am considering buying one second hand and would like to know if there’s anything I should watch out for. Is it a good unit or should I stay away? Are parts easy to come by or are they out of business? How do the knives hold up, and can they be sharpen effectively? The only thing I can find is that they’re made in China, which could be a problem in itself. Any information would be most helpful. Best regards, and thanks for your help.

Elephant is a badging of Taiwan machines imported
to N. America in the 80s and 90s. Pretty much all
Delta pattern knockoffs from what I’ve seen. Fit and
finish may not be great, but the castings and critical
parts are pretty much the same as other Taiwan
machines of the same time, which is to say pretty decent.

Thanks, Loren. The guy only wants $100 for it, but that could be good news or bad. Has some rust but that’s fixable.

If you think about it, not much to go wrong with a jointer. Bearings might go bad, but they are easily changed. If the guard is good, and it runs ok, hard to see how you could lose over 100$.
