I just got a g0453 planer and am trying to set it up. To clean and check settings on the feed rollers I need to have the gears in neutral. I have turned the machine on and tried to locate the middle position which should be neutral, cut the machine off and try to move the rollers by hand. Still won’t work. Anyone had this problem?

My planer is stuck in a storage unit right now so I can’t go check for sure, but I think the center position is more a “not in drive” than it is a neutral. I dont think the rollers will necessarily roll freely, they just roll forward and pull stock through.
