Topic tags/keywords: band saw saw band bandsaw question tip

Hey guys I’m excited to say I finally found a band saw in my price range that meets my needs. I found it on Craigslist, it’s a 3/4 hp 14” band saw with a base, and it has about 6” of resaw capability.

It does however need some fixes. The bracket that is pushed by the adjustment screw to center the blade on the wheel is broken. I believe it is a cast part. Here is a picture:

Also the bracket that holds a block guide (not sure of real name) is broken (just the right side one). Picture:

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix these things? Could a local welder make a fix? Are these parts replaceable with over the counter generic parts?

The saw brand is Grand Rapids Industrial Parts (parts?... forgot, it starts with a p though)

Thanks everyone! I’m excited to get her running!

not the pot metal that it is… welding can’t fix it.
I hope you didn’t pay to much, because you might wind up needing a machinist to make you a new one out of bar stock aluminum.

The guide is no big deal. Looks like a delta or jet might fit it.

See if the wheel tensioning piece looks like a delta or jet.
You may get lucky.

Grand Rapids Industrial Products. They’re a tool importer/reseller. Your saw is a Delta clone similar to the one HF sells or the old Reliant band saws.

As Wood chucker said your best bet is to see if you can find a Delta, Jet or Grizzly part that will fit your saw. Check eReplacementparts.com. They’re probably the best bet for finding the parts you need.

Perfect thanks Tefinn!

Just found this assembly on Woodcraft, though I think it’s just the rollers.

Also here is a video I just posted onto Youtube showing the saw.

I’m also going to begin posting my videos related to woodworking there. I’ll also be showing my complete shop “build” once we move into our “new” house in April.
