Topic tags/keywords: sanding discs for sale or trade

I’m not sure where to list info about this item so I’ll put it here and maybe a couple other places.

I recently bought out part of a workshop belonging to an older man who passed. His family was getting rid of everything most of which were tools and machines I didn’t need. What I bought was a big box of wood, moldings, books, plans and a lot of misc. stuff.

Checking this when I got home I found vast quantities of PSA sanding discs for both 5” and 6” sanders. Well, now all my sanders are hook and loop so the PSA are something I can’t use but I’ll bet there is someone out there who can.

Rough estimate of quantities seems to be about 250 discs of 80 grit, 300 discs of 220 grit, 200 discs of 400 grit and about 10 discs of 1200 grit. They are a little dusty but the adhesive on most is a peel off and the rest are rolls that cover the sticky side. Many are Mirka Gold made in Finland, most of the rest are made in Canada by Klingspor so this is not crap but good quality sandpaper. I can probably get everything in a USPS Flat Rate box for $6.00 and over 700 discs should be worth a couple of $100s, at least. I am willing to take less or even trade for something so I’m gonna leave this on here for about 2 weeks and whoever makes me the best offer will get the goods. Shoot me your best shot. If they don’t sell here, they’ll be on Ebay in 2 weeks. Let me hear from y’all.

Need a better break down, you say both 5 and 6” sanders but most of us will have one or the other, not both. I personally have use for 6” PSA, especially the 400 grit and 1200 grit.

Glue a piece of fabric backed vinyl to an old hook and loop disc and you’ll have an adapter so you can use the psa discs.

Malcolm, good idea but I have a full stock of the H & L discs and I’d never get through all this sand paper. Better to get it to someone who can use it.

Whiskers, how can anyone get by with only one size sander. I use the 6” DeWalt for fast removal with 80 grit. The Bosch 5” is for 150 or 220 grit and the Ridgid 5” always has 400grit. That way I don’t have to pull off a disc to change for another size. Over the last 50 years I have accumulated so many sanders. I have about 4-5 that are the old 1/4 sheet sanders, couple of portable 18” belt sanders, a new spindle sander, a 1” x 30” with a leather strop belt, a 6×48” horizontal belt and 9” disc combo. If it needs sanding, I got the tools.

Whiskers, the break down on 6” discs ….2 part rolls of Mirka 220 only, maybe 100 discs. All the rest are 5”

Dude, I don’t know the Rockwell vibra free and am going to look it up. I may have to add one of those to my arsenal.
