Or, should I just keep it to myself?

I Google everything now…all my supplies for over 2 years now, have been purchased online. More than $4K last year (I am not a Corporation, just a DBA, yeah!), delivered directly to my shop, UPS – FedEx, and at a savings of over 10% retail.
Rarely do I EVER go to a brick-n-mortar “store”, actually, I never do (anymore)...sad to say, but I have been “burned” by…

I’m with you, Steve.
...if I don’t have to kick the tires or take it for a test drive, I find it much more enjoyable to shop for supplies in front of my computer with my morning coffee and with the price of gas today, if I need it right away special handeling charges delivers it to my front door the next day for about the same price as a 50 mile round trip to the closest big box store.
My UPS driver always has a smile, which is more than I can say for alot of the helpers at the retail outlets.

Depends on what I’m looking for, I do shop at the small local shops as I’m a firm believer in supporting local stores but not the big franchise retails, I can do without.

yeah…I try to support the “mom & pop” businesses.

I like to shop online…just sometimes, it’s helpful to have it in your hand to examine before buying, ha

I’ll keep my gripe with that particular business to myself, as others may have different views, mine may have been a isolated incident.

I shop local first. But I have stores and suppliers near me. If it is more than 45 minutes away I consider on-line.

That said, I have had great luck buying replacement parts on-line.

I’m an hour from civilization. I buy a lot on line. However, I’ve found local stores don’t cost a penny more, even after King George eats out the substance, uh, I mean after taxes.

Town can be fun. Stopped at paint store in the off chance the dollar per gallon mis-mixes would have a color I needed, or to just get some oil paint to seal a floor (mis mix again – any color will do) and the girl asked if I’d been in their bargain cave. She showed it to me and I bought every box (20 per) of Nortons 80 grit for a buck a box, every can of their Daly’s waterbourne poly for a buck, and she threw in a five gallon bucket of [bright yellow] oil.

SIDE NOTE: I’ve used the oil like a sealer on particle and plywood floors, where it won’t be seen, for years. It even seals in pet odors or baby leavings (aren’t rentals a gas?).
