There’s been a bunch of stuff recently which centres around the difficulty in reading shortish comments on forum topics, and working out whether tongue was in cheek, tongue was stuck out, or no tongue was involved at all.
People can easily become confused.
Was that comment sarcastic, or straight up, or straight up offensive?
I try to deploy “old school” emoticons such as :-) – but I do wonder whether a lot of people know the language, and, to be frank, in this day and age it’s kinda low-tech and looks bad.
Perhaps if people could really easily throw a smiley face at the end of a comment, we’d all smile just a little more?
