I will be taking pause from this site, until it figures out in what direction it wants to go. Right now its course and mine are in conflict. Auf wiedersehen.

Maybe.

Sorry to see you go, other than the ads I have not seen much change in the site. Be well and hope you come back in time.

Don’t go Mafe! You have probably the best write-ups and some of the coolest posts on this site. What ‘direction’ is this site going?

It would be nice if you would end with an explanation or rant so that we better understand your point. I hate to see anyone leave.

I’m now looking at three (make that four!!!) ads for some underwear I was thinking about buying. Is that what you’re talking about? I actually like the underwear. :)

You said “Right now its course and mine are in conflict”.

Could you expound on that a little so we know what it is you find so distasteful that you’d leave?

#1. So many of my contacts have left. Some of these people are and were controversial, in a non demeaning way. There was a lot of banter going on and it could be very amusing. I have not had a laugh on this site in ages.

#2. There are huge black holes in the main forum. Some of them up to 50.000 posts. How can anybody new even fathom such a beast. And there are lots of them.

#3. Every second post is “what Tablesaw should I buy?”. Come on you new guys. Use the search function.

#4. The site has become very slow. looks like the new owners are trying to save money.

#5. Some times a thread is not to your liking and the issue needs to be addressed. I can not do that any more according to Cricket. As I have said before woodworking is not PG. It is a brutal world with sharp tools and if you treat it as PG you will never cut any wood. The words S…, F…, etc. are normal vocabulary in any shop.
Therefore I think that some slack should be allowed in posting your exuberance or frustration.

#6. I have learnt a lot from this site any even visited some members in foreign chimes. I think that it is time for the new owners to cut some slack, instead of trying to turn this site into something like a Republican convention, where everybody has to toe the line.

#7. Rant done.

Farvel. Auf wiedersehen. Adios. Au revoir.

As a new user, i can’t compare to any former state of this site. But i do find it hard to navigate compared to the ones i frequent for other hobbies (boating, grilling, cars and motorsports).

I especially think it is frustrating that I can’t see the content/title/topic of an off-topic thread without opening it. Why can’t the off-topic stuff carry a title, just like the other posts? What’s up with that?

I say just add another forum called “The Dungeon”.

Don’t come in if you have a weak stomach or don’t want spirited debate.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I have never been offended by any forum, topic or thread that I did not click on and open up. It works 100% of the time.

I believe that we are all a little Thor to see you leave the site.
We will call on Odin to have you return from Asgard!

Seriously, I am among those that will definitely miss your perspective of everything from Norse gods to woodworking!

Yea, lets have a open bar forum so all the folks who have had too much to drink can challenge each other to something they regret the next day. And, OH, lets have one for the KKK and the Nazi folks. Kidding aside, there are people from all walks of life in here and there is nothing wrong with courtesy and politeness toward people we have never met, don’t know about and have no idea about their culture and background. One of the examples I use in my “dealing with difficult people” related to cultures is:
In NY we have a lot of Italians; men hug and kiss each other as they greet each other, well, try that in TX in a German community like New Braunfels or with a Mexican community. I assure you, the experience will not be pleasant. Now, consider trying to not offend an internationally participating community; impossible, it will happen. But it doesn’t have to happen intentionally.
By the way, why did the KKK didn’t choose CCC instead of KKK? Anyone knows?

1. If you want to leave the site, then just leave. You come back on to debate it? mads, sounds like you are a talented woodworker and people love your advice. You’re probably a very nice guy as well. Quit being a crybaby.

2. The site is running slow, we get it. It is what it is. I like underwear too.

3. Table saws. The older the better, heavier is better. IMHO USA made is better. If you find an old ts (Delta, Powermatic) for 500 or less, you better jump on it quick. Newer Usa made machines (80’s, 90’s) are going to cost more than 500 and maybe 12-1500. You get what you pay for. Asian machines, you get what you pay for. All the same, just different colors. If you like Asian machines, more power to you. It all comes down to slick fence and table and a sharp blade. Enough with the table saw threads. Just go buy a damn table saw.

4. I was on this site 2 years ago as landog. I left because I didn’t like the fighting and the site was completely controlled by lunatics. If you have a political statement in your signature, you’re just looking for a fight and want to cause trouble. If you have the word hate in your signature you’re probably a hateful person. I don’t care about your opinions and I don’t care what you feel “the truth” is. Go away and fight somewhere else.

5. Emotions/ Smiley faces…are you kidding me!

I love woodworking and kinda like this site now. I come on here to relax and not listen to fights. I get excited when I read topics that that I enjoy. I like learning new things and learn daily on here. I don’t care about boxes or pens, but a lot of people do. That’s their thing. That’s the way it is. I like what I like and get excited when I see that. This is all my Opinion and not meant to insult anyone. If I have, oh well. I am bored today and took my pain meds 2 hours ago. LOL LOL , :) :)
